At least remember to feed me you shitty master!

Help with difficult sentences anyone? (Perhaps some spoilers?)

Hey guys, created this page so I can post some lines from the current chapter I am working on and reaching out to anyone with any Japanese experience at all for help. Other people are also welcome to try, perhaps I am just not getting it. If you can please comment below with the line copied and what you think the translation should be. Thanks for helping!

4/26/15 Oh another question, I usually find a は after Mira’s name and a comma right after, usually I just ignore them but do they mean something? God the dialogue is killing me, if all the following chapters are like this it might take me a week of trying to figure this stuff out.

Chapter 14

「僕も何とかしてあげたいところだけど、こればかりはね」

「本当にそう思っとるのか。内心、わしの事を笑っとるのじゃろう」

5/6/15

内心、わしの事を笑っとるのじゃろう」

thought I posted this line as well, its part of that dialogue above. I think its something about laughing in his innermost thoughts about mira’s situation?

「そっかそっか、それで塔にね。まあ、そこまで聞いているなら話は早いか。そんな君達、国最強の矛と盾が居ないとなれば、もう後はどうなるか想像出来るでしょ?」

something about how mira was the strongest shield and sword of the country and about the earlier conversation???

土地は豊かでいて、王は強欲で無かったため、奪う必要も無く国防に注strengthしていれば、他国も自然と交易を望んでくるようになった。

The country was rich, there was no need to take land, they devoted to their resources to national defense. Something about king being strong?

Chapter 13

「しっかしまぁ、散らかっとるのぅ」

I think this line is talking about loose documents being cluttered? idk.

「その格好、落差半端無いね!」

I think this one is talking about the appearance being different with no trace or the original remaining? idk,

「ほっとけい」

In context the previous lines were of the lines of 「にしても変わり過ぎだよ。まあ、らしいといえばらしいね。君らしいロリっ子だ」

Translated those as “Even so, it’s changed too much.Oh, speaking of appearances. You look like a loli kid.”

「して、まず聞かせてくれぬか。この世界・・・・は何なのじゃ?」

This line is also confusing, I translated it as “First of all, can you not take the trouble to tell me about it?This world……..what is it?”

「昨日の今日ならそれも許されるだろうけど、残念現実」

God dialogue is too annoying. I think she is talking about forgiving yesterday’s events if the previous statement held true and that she would write it off as a regrettable reality?

「だがまあ、それで早急にわしを呼びつけたという事じゃな」

Erm I think this one means something about summoning immediately.

5/2/15 Almost done with the chapter just need a few troublesome sentences help.

「これはつまり、椅子の上で仲良く・・・していたところでバランスを崩し今に至る。

Something about being happy in a chair and losing balance?

ソロモン様は女性に興味が無いのだとばかり思っていましたが、見た目相応が好みだったというわけですね。

Joaquin or Reynard (can’t really tell who is speaking) is talking about how he thought that Solomon was not interested in women but that that was not the case, it was just the matter of finding a suitable woman. I think?

「あ、ソロモン様。あのような小娘となど、他が納得するのか?」

I dunno, either he’s asking about whether the young girl consented or whether he understands?

一応、良識の有る行動をお願いしておきますね」

Ah, Solomon sama, it is good action to leave now. Something like that???

「お主も大変じゃな」

“Well then, you are difficult position.” I think?

「君も他人事じゃないでしょ」

“You, its not some other person’s problem.” maybe?

Well once these problems are resolved I’ll be able to release the chapter.

    • I translated it to be The room is very cluttered. Dunno if its correct. Cause one of the words is しっか which is under the care of and しまぁ which is territory. I think Mira is commenting on his office being cluttered.

      • Yes, you right, the room is cluttered. (Dunno about the room, since I am not reading what they talk about in original text, but highly possible, the room)
But about your next explanation, that usually use a kanji if someone intend to write as under the care or island/territory
I read しっかしまぁ as しかし まあ
So “But weell, its really cluttered/disordered”

    まあ、らしいといえばらしいね。君らしいロリっ子だ

Maybe it mean something like “still, you’re just the same as before, a loli but still the same you”

For ほっとけい maybe “just leave me alone”

That’s what I think, but I could be wrong or you could phrase it better. I only know japanese from playing VN so please be gentle.

    • Thanks for helping! Wow I feel like I completely screwed it up. When I first tried to guess at this line’s meaning, Mecab and JParser were giving me hotto and kei for ほっと and けい respectively. I feel like I shouldn’t even be trying to MT this novel lol. When those came out i interpreted it as the king speaking again with a “You are hot.”

  4. 「その格好、落差半端無いね!」
    >I think this one is talking about the appearance being different with no trace or the original remaining? idk,
Yes, maybe I write it as “That appearance, you completely changed!”

    >yu3kino
    >For ほっとけい maybe “just leave me alone”
    Yes

    >「にしても変わり過ぎだよ。まあ、らしいといえばらしいね。君らしいロリっ子だ」
He actually banter her as a lolicon
see >ロリっ子 (ko in the last)
so “Even though your appearance had changed. Well, you are you after all. A lolicon”
    Therefore the next line
    “Leave me alone” (mad)

    • kko is not con.

How to put this… an “orekko” would be girl who uses “ore” for “I”. A “lolikko” would be a girl who acts/dresses/etc. in the loli style.

Oh no, why you had to make it hard? ぬか is just ないか
    まず 聞かせてくれ ないか
Here, the example how てくれないか turn into English

  6. My Japanese is self-taught, and I never had any formal lessons, so take it with a grain of salt:

    しっかしまぁ、散らかっとるのぅ
“But well… it’s [the place is] really messy [cluttered, disordered], huh”

    「その格好、落差半端無いね!」
A bit less sure on this. I haven’t read any other part, so I have no context clues to work on, which doesn’t help. But I think you’re right.
So… is this “Mira” someone who knew this “Solomon” in his past life but was reborn and is now a female child? Why don’t I read the TLed chapters first? ほっとけい!

    ほっとけい
    “Bite me” (not literally)
or “Leave me alone” “shut up” “fuck off”, in the context of you trying to say you don’t care about something someone said. I really can’t explain it better… It’s something one would say when sulking.

    にしても変わり過ぎだよ。まあ、らしいといえばらしいね。君らしいロリっ子だ
    rashii = like, typical, -ish
    So, he’s saying, “speaking of -ishness, it’s really you-ish. It’s a very you-ish loli.”
My vocabulary sucks and I don’t know how to say this in English.

Best I could come up with:
“Even so, the change is too extreme. Well… it’s really “you”, though, that kind of loli.”

    して、まず聞かせてくれぬか。この世界・・・・は何なのじゃ?
“So, first, let me hear it. This world… what is it?”
“It” in the first sentence refers to the answer to his subsequent question. So it means “let me hear the answer to my question, which is…” Not sure if that’s acceptable grammar.

    昨日の今日ならそれも許されるだろうけど、残念現実
“It’s reasonable since it has only been less than a day [for you], but unfortunately, this is reality.”
Should be easier with context clues. 昨日の今日 means at most a day has passed since something happened, which I’m guessing is obvious if one is reading through the story properly. From what the sentence is saying, the other party seems to be rejecting reality in some way, so this guy is saying its reasonable since his brain is still catching up, and then reminding him that its real nonetheless.

    「これはつまり、椅子の上で仲良く・・・していたところでバランスを崩し今に至る。
“So it’s like this. While they are being happy together,… they lost the balance then it turns to this.”
仲良くしてい part here can mean they are happily doing something ecchi together. It’s quite hard to literally translate phrase by phrase for this part so I just suggest the one describing the closest meaning.

    ソロモン様は女性に興味が無いのだとばかり思っていましたが、見た目相応が好みだったというわけですね。
Literally translation is “I completely thought that Solomon-sama has no interest in women but it turns out to be preference to appearance” This is quite difficult because I do not understand the phrase 見た目相応 well. From dictionary, I think that it means preference to appearance (sorry, English is not my native language so my phrasing may not be correct), or appearance taste. というわけ is for explanation here so I think the suitable phrase for this circumstance is it turns out to be.

    あのような小娘となど、他が納得するのか?
I remember in this part, the knight was asking everyone who else is going to accepts (or acknowledge) Mira. 他 here means anyone else. The translation for this part is :” Is there anyone else who accepts (acknowledge) such little girl?”

I’d like to help you but I can’t do anything with it.

    >「本当にそう思っとるのか。内心、わしの事を笑っとるのじゃろう」

What larvyde said but it should be more, idk, dignity. Just like the Gendalf’s speech. She/he talks in that style all the time.

My English is way too poor to express it though.

I also want to offer something too but I have nothing but this

    本当にそう思っとるのか。内心、わしの事を笑っとるのじゃろう
Do you really think like that? In your heart, you must be laughing about me, right?

    >「そっかそっか、それで塔にね。まあ、そこまで聞いているなら話は早いか。そんな君達、国最強の矛と盾が居ないとなれば、もう後はどうなるか想像出来るでしょ?」

So, that’s why you was at the towers? Well, if you already heard it, there is little to explain. Without you all, the strongest swords and shields of this country, do you understand what will happen?

    >something about how mira was the strongest shield and sword of the country and about the earlier conversation???

Not only Mira, all 9 wisemen.

    >土地は豊かでいて、王は強欲で無かったため、奪う必要も無く国防に注strengthしていれば、他国も自然と交易を望んでくるようになった。

In the rich country when king without greed commits into defence, rest countries naturally establish trade relations. [about the fact that nobody wants to attack a strong rich country, but if it loses force while remaining rich…]

  12. You probably should make a /help-with-difficult-sentences-anyone-perhaps-some-spoilers/ section per chapter, like with the chapters, you click in chapter 14 for the discussion of the chapter, finish it put it in the normal section, make another page for chapter 15 discussion upto infinity and beyooond. well so that it does not become clustered…

a year later but in case you still were wondering, the は that comes after her name is probably a subject marker. が is another one with a slightly different nuance that i dont understand well enough to explain but is similar in use and meaning. They simply emphasize the topic of the sentence.
